    Pedi-Care will now be using Night Nurse on weekends and holidays to handle our afterhours calls. Night Nurse is a call service that uses pediatric trained RNs to handle you urgent afterhours calls.

For over two decades, seven days a week, we have had the privilege of serving our community by providing comprehensive and compassionate medical care for infants, children, and adolescents. We thank our patients for the continued opportunity to contribute to their health and well-being. If your family is new to our practice, our physicians, nurses, and office staff look forward to getting to know you and your children. Within this site, you will find answers to questions you may have about our office and some common medical issues.


Pedi-Care is a group practice. this means that physicians, nurse
practitioners, physician assistants, nurses and medical assistants work as
a teamto provide care to our patients. As such, we cannot always honor
parent requests to speak with or see a particular provider. Based on
availability, you may be required to speak with or have an appointment with
a different provider, including nurse practitioners or physicians'
assistants.

Meet Our Staff

  • Jessica K. Brideau
    MSN, APRN, PNP-PC, CLC

    Jessica joined Pedi-Care in 2022. She graduated from Sacred Heart University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and graduated from Yale University in 2021 with a Master of Science in Nursing. She is credentialed as a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. Prior to joining Pedi-Care, she worked at Yale Health Pediatrics. She is also a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC).

  • Melanie J. Georgalas
    MD, FAAP

    Dr. Georgalas joined Pedi-Care in 1990. She graduated from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in NY, NY and completed her pediatric residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Dr. Georgalas serves as Consulting Physician for several local nursery schools and daycare centers.

  • Nicholas P. Mongillo
    MD, FAAP

    Dr. Mongillo joined Pedi-Care in 1990. He graduated from St. George’s University College of Medicine and completed his pediatric residency (including an appointment as Chief Resident) at Bridgeport Hospital, Bridgeport, CT. Dr. Mongillo serves as Pediatric Medical Adviser for the Stratford Department of Health, Medical Director of Residential Facilities Saint Vincent’s Special Needs Center, and Community Health Educator for the Shelton Public Schools.

  • Michelle Rivelli
    MD, FAAP

    Dr. Rivelli joined Pedi-Care in 1992. She graduated from UCONN Medical School graduate and completed her pediatric residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Dr. Rivelli currently serves on the Board for Saint Catherine Center for Special Needs.

  • Christa L. Johnson
    MD, FAAP

    Dr. Johnson joined Pedi-Care in 1997.  She received her medical degree from the University Of Connecticut School Of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency training at the University of Rochester in NY.  Dr. Johnson has been a past volunteer Health Educator with the Shelton Public Schools and former Medical Consultant for the Make A Wish foundation.  Since 2020, she has been a volunteer for the CT Medical Reserve Corps, Stratford/Trumbull/Monroe Health Departments.

  • Karen Piciw
    PA-C

    Karen joined Pedi-Care in 2017. She graduated from Alderson-Broaddus College with a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Science. She was also credentialed as a Physician Assistant by the NCCPA. Karen has been a P.A. for more than 25 years and spent most of her clinical time in the Pediatric field. Prior to joining our team at Pedi-Care, she worked at Norwalk Hospital. Her responsibilities included caring for sick children on the Inpatient unit, premature infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care unit and newborns in the Nursery.
